Henry Ross Perot is an American business mogul, billionaire and philanthropist. He is the founder and CEO of Electronic Data Systems and Perot Systems. He led an independent presidential campaign in 1992 and a one-third campaign in 1996, establishing the Reform Party in subsequent elections. Although he failed to run a state in either election, the two campaigns were among the strongest presidential elections by a third party or independent candidate in U.S. history. . Born and raised in Texarkana, Texas, Perot became a salesperson for IBM after serving in the US Navy. In 1962, he founded Electronic Data Systems, a data processing services company. In 1984, General Motors bought control of the company for $ 2.4 billion. Perot founded Perot Systems in 1988 and was an angel investor for NeXT, an IT company founded by Steve Jobs after leaving Apple.
