Sergiusz Piasecki
Sergiusz Piasecki was one of the most famous Polish writers of the mid-20th century. He mainly portrays the life of the criminals and inferiors of Minsk, whom he knows very well, as well as the work of Polish spies in the Soviet Union and later anti-Nazi Conspiracy in Wilno; the two problems he personally encountered. His third novel in prison, The Lover of the Great Bear, published in 1937, was the third best-selling novel of the Second Polish Republic. After World War II, Piasecki's books were banned by Communist censorship in the People's Republic of Poland. After the fall of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s, Bear's Lover once again became one of the country's best-selling books according to the daily Rzeczpospolita. His other novel, an anti-Soviet satire, Memoirs of a Red Army officer, has been reprinted several times.
