Sharon Vonne Stone is an American actress, producer and former model. She is a recipient of the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards, and was nominated for the Oscar and the Screen Actors Association Award. After modeling for TV commercials and print ads, she made her film debut as a spin-off in Woody Allen's comedy Stardust Memories. His first speech was in the Wes Craven horror film Deadly Blessing. Also in the 1980s, Stone appeared in The Irreconcilable Difference, King Solomon's Mine, Cold Steel, Act Jackson, and Above the Law. She found significance when she starred in Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi action thriller Total Recall. Stone became a sex icon and world famous as Catherine Tramell in another Verhoeven film, the erotic horror thriller Basic Instinct, which earned her a Globe Award nomination.
