Thomas Mifflin
Thomas Mifflin is an American businessman, soldier and politician from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in various roles during and after the American Revolution, many of which qualified him as one of the founding fathers. He was the first governor of Pennsylvania, serving from 1790 to 1799; he was also the last president of Pennsylvania, succeeding Benjamin Franklin and served from 1788 to 1790. Born in Philadelphia, Mifflin became a businessman after graduating from Philadelphia University. He joined the Continental Army after serving in the Pennsylvania Provincial Congress and the Continental Congress. During the American Revolutionary War, he was an assistant to General George Washington and a Continental General in the Continental Army, up to the rank of Major General. Mifflin returned to Parliament in 1782 and was elected President of the Continental Parliament in 1783 .
